Keeping staff motivated - Essay Example The organizationââ¬â¢s management has to understand its staffââ¬â¢s behavior to motivate the employees successfully. An organization with motivated staff will be successful in achieving its objectives. Ramifications of not having global leaders In my profession field, there are various ramifications of not having global leaders in the marketing field. Global leaders influence the marketing and global brand management strategies selected by the organization due to cultural issues in different locations. There will be limited opportunities for professional growth and car eer advancement and organizations will experience high labor turnover and inability to attract and retain multi-skilled employees (Smilansky, 2006). Without global leaders, the language selected in advertisements and promotional materials will not fit the culture of the location since some countries like Japanese prefer a high-context language and direct messages, unlike low-context cultures (Smilansky, 2006). Without global leaders, an organization will not understand the values and attitudes of consumers in a particular location. The organization will also fail in new product design and packaging since aesthetics such as taste, smell and size influence the attitudes of the consumers towards a product depending on their culture (McCall & Hollenbeck, 2002). Such organizations will lose market share and ultimately decline the productivity of the product in particular locations. The Unglamorous Interface of an iPad Research Paper
The Unglamorous Interface of an iPad - Research Paper Example For some, itââ¬â¢s a declaration of who they are and what they can afford, but for most, itââ¬â¢s merely coping to the dictates of the society. With this virtue, capitalists please consumers by delivering the sleekest, fastest, and newest innovation on devices almost every week pushing their limits far from what used to be impossible and pulling its realization to the now. Who does not drool with the sight of an iPad, or with the sleeked digital SLRs in the market, or the sleekest smart phone? Who would not want a lifeline device that can answer any query or do things for you with just a touch of your hand? Manââ¬â¢s means comes way out of hand sometimes in order to meet an unachievable goal so as the capitalistââ¬â¢s aim to manufacture more even if this equates to considerably creating environmental of humanitarian damages. These electronic devices do not end up on the shelves of a gadget store in a whisk on the capitalistââ¬â¢s wand for the consumers to buy it. It go es to a tedious process of conceptualizing, engineering, manufacturing, and marketing. And like in any organization, this process can be echoed as a pyramid with the product on the high end exposed to the world of consumers and the manufacturers at the bottom kept hidden from everyoneââ¬â¢s awareness (Lacy, p.32). ... As it proved to be a cost saving method, the giants seek suppliers from low-wage high-labor countries in Asia (Kwok, 776). In the beginning, it was seen as a win-win situation where companies attain their production goal at a very low cost while the labor country receives employment and compensation to salvage their economy. Yet, as time goes, this gratification became one sided tilting the better end to the capitalists and leaving the laborers on the grim end. It is with everyoneââ¬â¢s knowledge that manufacturing evolves chemicals and materials that are damaging to the health of the people and the environment. Policies and regulations have been made to control this situation. Unfortunately, not every company placed this on their priority list. Just like the incidence that occurred in one of the factories in Chengdu, China, where a twenty-two year old man, named Lai Xiaodong, died from an explosion while at work due to combustion of chemicals. It is the factory that polished thou sands of iPad cases every day. Even the worldââ¬â¢s mightiest company such as Apple cannot come clean when it comes to ethical issues of their manufacturing scheme. As the demands for the latest recline so as their demand for these manufacturers on the other side of the world. And meeting these demands is parallel to long working hours for the laborers, poor compliance of policies, risk of negligence in monitoring safety precautions and even sorting to usage of cheaper more volatile chemicals to lower the production costs (Duhigg, par.9). Above are the images of industrial districts of China depicting its hazardous consequence to the environment and its people (Lu Guang). ââ¬Å"Apple never cared about anything other than increasing product quality and decreasing production costâ⬠¦

Anishinabee social movment Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Anishinabee social movment - Essay Example Through military expedition, the British tried to conquer the natives, but they were unsuccessful as the former migrated to various states in Canada. The biggest blow for Ojibway came when America got her independence from England. The new US government put an end to the Indian free movements. They were thus, confined in reservation areas with less hunting and fishing grounds and unlike their predecessors, Americans military force was more brutal and led to a lot of massacres. Through trickery and false accusations of Indian chiefs, Americans tried to contain the natives who they deemed hostile. However, military warfare seemed a futile way of trying to control the Indians as they were natural warriors. They therefore turned on indirect ways of ââ¬Ëcivilizingââ¬â¢ the natives. By the late 1800s, Indian children were accepted in large numbers into American schools. The strategy was to indoctrinate and incorporate American values and culture into the children while at the same time teaching them to abscond their native customs. Therefore, children were forbidden to speak their native language, their long hairs were cut short and their tribal regalia and medicine were openly burned. The ultimate result was children turned against their elders and customs. Indians were therefore forced to relocate to towns after they lost their lands. Currently, the situation is worse. Apart from the fact that Indian culture and history is deliberately ignored in the school system, the portrayal of the natives is shocking and false. The social, economic and political injustices that American Indians faced have been swept under the rug and what is taught in schools is utter nonsense that tries to justify the unjust occupation of Indian land. However, a recent crop of young Indians have begun retracing their roots. They are busy searching for elders who are accustomed to their olden
